Performance

Honda pilot on road

A V6 engine with a 3471 cc displacement powers the 2019 and 2018 Honda Pilot. Rated at 280 hp, this naturally aspirated engine block includes the SOHC and i-VTEC labels. Creating a compression ratio of 11.5:1, the powertrain produces 262 pound-feet of torque at 4,700 RPM. Both Pilot trims conserve fuel when the Variable Cylinder Management and Idle Stop come on. Such technology helps the powertrain achieve a highway fuel economy of 27 MPG*. The Active Noise Cancellation reduces loud sounds from normal mechanical operations under the hood. Equipped with the Intelligent Variable Torque Management AWD, these Honda crossover SUVs are ready tackle various landscapes and roads. Custom modes for snow, mud and sand are controlled by the Intelligent Traction Management. An automatic transmission system with six gears is installed in the entry-level trims of both Pilot models. The premium editions have a nine-speed automatic transmission system that's synced with paddle shifters.

Safety

The Collision Mitigation Braking is installed in the 2019 and 2018 Pilot. Part of the Honda Sensing suite, this technology applies the brakes if a front collision seems unavoidable. You can also customize the timing and distance intervals of the Adaptive Cruise Control. If you unintentionally get on the shoulder of a road, the Road Departure Mitigation will issue alerts and adjust the steering direction. Both Honda crossover SUVs have the Lane Keeping Assist that keeps the wheels within marked lanes. If adjacent vehicles block your vision of the surroundings, the Cross Traffic Monitor will help you back up with caution. Additionally, the multi-angle rear view camera records perspectives in three different modes. When you hit the road at night, the Auto High-Beam Headlights keep you focused on the steering rather than light settings.

Having a slightly tilted layout for optimum visibility, an 8.0-inch infotainment system is installed in the 2019 and 2018 Pilot. You could tap the touch screen to get directions from the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation platform. When you want updates on local road conditions, just turn on the Honda HD Digital Traffic channel. Google Maps and other mobile apps could be delivered to the multimedia system through Android Auto. Siri and other iPhone apps are accessible through the Apple CarPlay function. HD Radio, Pandora and SiriusXM Satellite Radio entertain passengers in both Pilot models. The 2019 trim has 10 powerful speakers that produce up to 590 acoustic watts. A wireless phone charger and WiFi are some of the vehicle's other new features.
