The 2026 Civic Sedan Hybrid has a decisive power advantage compared to the 2026 ELANTRA Hybrid, with its standard 2.0L 4-cylinder engine and pair of electric motors delivering 200 combined horsepower1 and 232 lb.-ft. of torque2. Hyundai’s model generates just 139 net horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque with its standard 1.6L 4-cylinder system and electric motor. The Civic also makes use of an advanced standard Direct Drive Unit as its drivetrain, delivering smooth and responsive acceleration whether you’re navigating city streets on the way to Cascades Park or gliding down the interstate. Inside the ELANTRA Hybrid, you’ll find a standard 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, which can feel less seamless in comparison. Driving enthusiasts will also appreciate that the Civic offers an available Individual drive mode, which lets you tailor the car’s performance to your preferences. Hyundai’s vehicle doesn’t offer this feature.
Interior
Inside the 2026 Honda Civic Sedan Hybrid, you’ll be greeted by the glow of its standard red ambient lighting. A similar feature is unavailable in the ELANTRA Hybrid until its top-tier Limited trim, and your co-driver will likely be disappointed that their seat lacks the available 4-way power adjustable settings found in the Honda vehicle. You’ll enjoy more standard cargo versatility in the Civic as well, thanks to its standard 60/40 split folding rear seats, which aren’t offered until the highest trim level in the ELANTRA Hybrid. It even has a bigger trunk, with 14.8 cu. ft.3 of storage volume compared to the 14.2 cu. ft. provided by the Hyundai. If luxury is a priority for you, the Civic delivers with its available leather upholstery, which is a more sophisticated material than the available H-Tex® leatherette found in the ELANTRA Hybrid.
Safety
The Civic is equipped with Honda Sensing®, an extensive suite of driver-assist and safety features that offers tools such as available Low-Speed Braking Control4. This technology is unavailable in the Hyundai model, which also lacks a standard Adaptive Cruise Control5 system. Its equivalent feature, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go6, is tied to the ELANTRA Hybrid’s highest trim level. You’ll also have extra help fitting the Civic into a tight spot at Doak S. Campbell Stadium, since it has available front and rear parking sensors. These cannot be found on the Hyundai car, though it does join the Civic in offering a standard Lane Keeping Assist7/8 system. 7. LKAS only assists driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
8. Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) will not work under all circumstances. It operates above 40 mph and only when it is able to detect painted lane markings. It cannot function if the lane markings cannot be seen clearly. If the lines cannot be seen clearly due to poor road conditions, weather, or lighting conditions, it may not function. It also may not function on very rough roads, when walls, curbs or concrete barriers are close by, or if following another car too closely. Since it "sees" the lane markings using a camera in the upper windshield area, it is imperative this area be clear and free of blockage such as stickers, dirt, snow, tinting material, markings and labels. Lane Keeping Assist is not a substitute for safe driving practices, but is a supplemental assist only. The driver is responsible for always maintaining command and control of the vehicle and must keep hands on the wheel at all times. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.
